In the year 2021, Leonard engaged in a gaming stream where he employed offensive and derogatory language targeting Jewish individuals. As a consequence, he faced a suspension from the Heat for a duration of one week and was penalized with a fine amounting to $50,000. Leonard acknowledged that his remarks stemmed from ignorance rather than hatred or prejudice. Nevertheless, he admitted that he can never retrieve the words he uttered at that time.
"Leonard confessed, 'I recognize that this incident will linger indefinitely. I am also aware that at some point, I will need to address the matter with my children, as they are bound to hear about it through school or sports events. As I always do, I will sit down and truthfully convey what transpired. 'Dad made a mistake, and it was deeply embarrassing. However, Dad learned from it and emerged as a better individual.' So, despite my aversion to discussing this period and my reluctance to delve into it, I must admit that I am grateful for the error, as it provided me with the chance to improve myself."
